Questions

How does 100 Women Who Care work?

  • Each member commits to donating a minimum of $50, four times a year.
  • Any member who has registered and is current with her donation can submit a
  • Charity Nomination Form to nominate an organization for consideration at a meeting.
  • Three registered charities will be drawn at the end of each meeting to be considered for the next vote.  Members will then vote for one of these charities at the following meeting.
  • The nominating member will make a 5-minute presentation about the organization with a Q&A session with a charity representative to follow.
  • Members who have made their donation may vote for one of the three nominated organizations.  If you can’t attend a meeting, you can vote by e-mail or have another member vote for you at the meeting.  Ties will be decided by further votes.
  • The organization that gets the most votes will receive a collective grant in the amount of the membership contributions at the time of the meeting.
  • An organization that doesn’t win the vote at one meeting may be nominated again.
  • An organization receiving the grant can’t be nominated again for two years.

Which charities are eligible to be nominated?
In order to be considered at a meeting, an organization MUST provide direct services or programs locally, be a registered charitable organization with a CRN (charity registration number) and be willing to make a brief presentation at our meeting. Please visit our Nominations page for more information on nominating a charity.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes.  Donations are 100% tax-deductible.  One tax receipt will be issued per member at the end of the year, for the full amount of her annual donation.

How do we choose which charity will receive the group donation?
A member in good standing will nominate a charity.  Three of these charities will be selected to present at the next meeting.  At the meeting, they will explain what the charity does and what they will do with the grant.  After all three presentations, members will vote on which charity should receive the grant.

Can I bring a friend to the meeting?
Of course you can, we are always looking for more women who care!  She is free to observe and contribute a donation if she likes, but in order to vote she will need to become a member.

How much of my donation pays administration costs?
None!  We are organized and operated entirely by local volunteers and our meeting space is donated so 100% of the money raised at our meetings can go directly to the charity that’s been voted for.  We will be collecting donations for the Evangel Pentecostal Church to thank them for donating a space we can meet in.
